About Us

Comfy Critters is locally owned and operated by Barb & Bob Meuleman. Our home base is located in Lynden, Ontario, on a rambling farm that we share with two energetic border collies, a beautiful Braefield golden retriever, 2 torti kittens, 2 horses and a lop-eared bunny. The idea of starting a pet-sitting service came as a natural progression. We had been providing TLC to a handful of injured horses since 2000, and soon realized that we needed a full-service sitter for our own fur-family: someone who was kind, knowledgeable and dependable. Seeing a need in our area, that is the service we have strived to create. While growing our business, many clients have become friends, and we have set ourselves apart, we think, with a warm & willing attitude to help.

For your peace of mind, Comfy Critters is bonded & insured by Verge, with a policy designed especially for pet-sitters and their clients. We are proud members of Professional United Pet Sitters (PUPS) and the All Canadian Pet Services Network (ACPSN). Comfy Critters is also Pet Health + First Aid Certified.

Frequently Asked Questions

When can we meet?   Please contact us to arrange a convenient time to meet at your home. We can discuss your needs and get to know your pets and their routines. This is your chance to get to know us too. We want you to feel 100% comfortable with our service. There is no obligation and no charge for this visit.

When do I give you my keys?   At our consultation, if you are scheduling visits. If we must return for a key at a later date, there will be a small additional charge.

Can you hold my keys on file?   Yes - keys are coded and carefully secured in a safe location. This gives you the convenience of getting away with one quick call, or asking for a drop-in visit if you have to work late. We have even delivered keys to clients who have accidentally locked themselves out of their homes.

Will you provide references?   We are happy to! We realize that the safety & well-being of your pets and the security of your home is a Number One priority.

Can I call you while I'm away?   Yes, definitely. While we provide a daily diary of our visits, we welcome check-in calls in the evenings. We are also happy to email you with updates.

Are you available on Statutory holidays?   Yes, but with limited time available, we ask that you book well in advance. There is an extra charge of $6. per visit on the following holidays:   Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Eve, New Years Day, Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Labour Day & Thanksgiving.

Do you look after any kind of pet?   Yes, we have experience and enjoy caring for ALL kinds of pets, including aquariums, birds, reptiles, exotics, horses and small livestock. Variety is the spice of life!

Do you provide additional services?   We can provide a variety of services, including but not limited to:   pet food pick up & delivery, routine pool maintenance, tending to large vegetable & flower gardens, and stocking your refrigerator with necessities upon your return. Working with you, we will do all that we can to help you have a worry-free holiday or business trip.
